The fruit season has started very well for URBAN LOGISTIC SERVICES (ULS), the new logistic center which opened at the end of May.
Receiving and shipping of fruit, particular of apricots, started at the beginning of July and the center worked 24/7 and served 4-5 trucks per night, which is unprecedented for Armenia.
In July alone ULS processed about 1.000 ton of apricots and thanks to the unique storage facilities they were kept with no loss in quality for more than 30 days. The technical conditions at ULS allows both short-term and long-term storage of fruit and vegetables under various temperature regimes (from 0 to +80C).
However, the company is not willing to be satisfied with what it has already achieved and it is planning to enter the market of Fresh Logistics and operate all year round with import and export of fruit and vegetables. At the moment ULS is preparing its cold rooms intended for Fresh Logistics, specifically preparing for the peak season of grapes and apples.
URBAN LOGISTIC SERVICES is the first and only logistic operator in Armenia which provides a full range of logistic services in 3PL format (Third Party Logistics): storage, customs, warehousing, order fulfilment, labeling & packaging, and delivery. ULS’s logistic center is the only A class universal complex in the region with international safety and storage standards, a modern internal and external warehousing infrastructure with European equipment which enables the company to keep and process any types of goods.
The logistic center with an overall area of about 7ha includes: the central warehouse designed for 45.000 pallet places; warehouses rent (around 15) with a total area of 5000m², 9 cold chambers with the total capacity of 4.500 m³, and office space of 1200m². At moment ULS is cooperating with more than 100 Armenian and foreign companies providing the services of cross docking (consolidated goods), storage, good receiving and shipping, labeling and goods delivery, etc.
